The film was written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The plot of the story is about a middle-aged woman who works in the same office as her son, who goes missing on their company's business trip to America after he has an argument with her. Raghu Dixit plays the main protagonist in the film, while Adil Hussain plays her adult son. Boman Irani, Arathi Kannamma and Rajeev Varma appear in supporting roles. One day, on their company's business trip to America, Anand and Cindy argue about something minor; ending with Anand leaving the ship without informing anyone, leaving behind all his possessions except his passport.
