O.k. this post should probably be called Godin guitar serial numbers rather than Seagull guitar serial numbers ? because it applies to all guitars under the Godin umbrella (Seagull, Art & Lutherie, Simon & Patrick, Norman and La Patrie) but it certainly applies to Seagull guitars.
The present system doesn?t actually tell you anything about when the guitar was built, which is a bit of a pain, as working out the year of your guitar is often the only thing people want to know from their serial number.
I mean I guess serial numbers are really meant for internal purposes for Seagull and for anti-theft measures but sometimes you want to be able to find out the year of production. I imagine if you were to contact Godin they would have this information.
If you follow this link ? Seagull S6 Original ? it will take you to the S6 Original on the Seagull website. Underneath the title you will see ?SKU: 029396?. If you want to find the model number for your guitar go through the models until you find the number that matches your guitar. You should be able to narrow this down reasonably quickly as you should know at least which series your guitar is from.
So, overall from our example serial number we can tell that the serial number belongs to an S6 Original that is not a factory second?and that it was the 123rd S6 Original to be shipped since Godin began their 12 digit serial number system.
But as I said earlier, it is perhaps the fact that serial numbers are mainly for internal company purposes and for identifying stolen property. But, it would be nice to be able to quickly tell what year your guitar was built from the serial number as well.
Hello. I am really in a quandary. I have what I believe to be a Seagull artist series, cameo ca but I can not find a serial number anywhere on it. The labels inside the sound hole look authentic. Where can I find the number or did I get a knockoff. The guitar looks exactly like the one on seagull?s web page. I sent a text to seagull this AM but they have not replied yet. Thank you for any help you can give me. I was told by the fellows bought it from that ha bought it about. 10 or so years ago from Elderly in Lansing Mi.
Hello again. Seagull answered back said the serial number was either on the label on inside of the guitar or on the headstock. I had looked on the headstock several times before and did not see it. Looked again after I was told it should be in one of those two places. Sure enough there it was.
I just bought a Seagull M6 Cedar at a pawn shop today. I've always wanted one and I'm very happy. I went to the Seagull website to see if I could contact them about finding out what year model it is using the serial number, however the only contact method they have is via snail mail to a Canadian address, so I was wondering if anyone here has any resources on finding model years from the serial numbers. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Gang,I have a Seagull S6+ Cedar GT acoustic.Where do I find the serial number for the guitar?Do most companies just put serial numbers on their higher end guitars, or is there a serial number for every guitar produced?
C.F. Martin & Co. started out with a serial number of 8,001 because the company estimated that is how many guitars they manufactured up until that time and accurate records did not exist, so this is a an estimated value.
So we have listed the year of manufacture, the starting serial number for that year and the ending serial number for that year and the total number of instruments constructed during that year. All models are included in these numbers and Martin used a very logical consecutive numbering system along with model number stamping to eliminate a lot of confusion.
Looking at the photo above, you can see there are two numbers stamped on the head block. The top number is the guitar model number, in this example this is a D-18. The bottom number is the Martin Guitar serial number of the instrument.
This guitar happens to be Martin Guitar Serial Number 95984, which when referenced from the serial number matrix below, we find out that this is a 1946 model D-18 and is one of 4,534 that were made in that year. Nice Guitar!
Also be careful when you read the numbers as sometimes an "0" and a "D" can look very much alike. For F-hole Martin Guitars, such as their archtop models, the serial and model numbers are stamped on the center reinforcing strip and can be seen most clearly by looking through the bass side "f" hole, by looking toward the bridge.
Acoustic guitars are string instruments that are typically played without electronic amplification. They are generally considered to be a more traditional option for guitarists, and are often used in folk, country, and blues music. Many acoustic guitars have a serial number stamped on the body or neck, which can be used to identify the instrument. The serial number on an acoustic guitar can be used to date the instrument, as well as to identify the specific model and manufacturer. The location of the serial number can vary, but is usually found on the body or neck of the guitar. In some cases, the serial number may be obscured or worn away, making it difficult to read. If you are unsure of the location of the serial number on your guitar, you can consult a guitar repair specialist or the manufacturer.
When there is a lack of consistency between the numbers and letters, a fake digit can be identified. If there were 6 digits on the A1234B serial number for the guitar, this would be a forgery. There are numerous rare guitars in the world, and it is possible that no one has recorded their serial numbers in our Guitar Serial Number Lookup Decoder. You should take the guitar to a professional for a checkup. In this experiment, compare and contrast the performance of each guitar part using photographs of an actual guitar. These instruments are made by skilled professionals and are constructed with high-quality machinery. Whether or not the joint is real, wrist rubbing on a guitar is a sign of it.
The back of the headstock bears the mark of a real serial number. A white number is typically used as a fake. Gibson, Fender, PRS, and other well-known brands also provide certificates of authenticity, but they can also be used for fraud.
Since the beginning of time, guitar serial numbers have been placed on or near the instrument. The top of the neck plate, the front or back of the headstock, the cover plate of the vibrato (Stratocasters), or at the end of the heel of the neck should be the appropriate places.
Acoustic guitars have serial numbers to help identify them. The serial number is usually located on the back of the headstock. If you have an acoustic guitar that does not have a serial number, it may be a prototype or sample guitar.
There are a few different ways that you can determine what model your acoustic guitar is. One way is to look at the label that is usually located on the inside of the guitar body near the neck. This label should have the make and model of the guitar listed on it. Another way to determine the model of your acoustic guitar is to look up the serial number that is usually located on the headstock. You can then use this serial number to look up the model of the guitar online.
The first digit of the model number indicates which series and woods were used to make the guitar. The system is divided into series ranging from the 100 to 900. A six string guitar has a second digit, whereas a twelve string guitar has a second digit.
There are a few ways that you can check what year your guitar is. One way is to look at the serial number on the guitar. The serial number can usually be found on the back of the headstock. The first two digits of the serial number will usually indicate the year that the guitar was made. Another way to check the year of your guitar is to look at the model number. The model number can usually be found on the inside of the sound hole. The first two digits of the model number will usually indicate the year that the guitar was made. 2ff7e9595c
